Tarquinia and the painted tombs

The Necropolis of Tarquinia, inserted onto the UNESCO World Heritage List, represents a unique witness of the ancient Etruscan Civilization, the only urban civilization of the pre-Roman Age.

The frescoed tombs are a unique-of-a-kind, the only testimony of the Etruscan culture: and they’re vivid, spectacular, meaningful. Going down the modern stairs will lead us to an unknown world: a few steps and we’re in the middle of a lost civilization, watching with our very eyes the centuries-old frescos. They represent not only funeral processions, but also dining, festivals, fishing, or hunting scenes: lively portrait, a day in the life of a civilization that disappeared more than two thousand years ago.
